Winter Rate Changes

That's right, folks. It is time for the local Maui courses to inform us of their new winter rates. In some cases rates at a few of the local courses may stay the same. But, for the most part, rates are going to change. Effective Dec 20th, Kapalua Bay and Plantation Courses will have an increase their rate. Makena will also have an increase in their rate effective Dec 22nd.

Don't let these rate changes scare you away. All the golf courses here on the island are well worth the money. And, in most instances, the rate changes (even though they increase) do not increase by much. Of course, rates do and will change quite often so it is important to call us while you are planning your Maui trip. 800-981-5512.

As always, we at Maui Golf Shop are going to do our best to give you the best prices for your tee times!

Lanai, Lanai, Lanai

Our biggest seller this year is our Lanai 36 hole golf package. It is also the best value with the best views and course conditions.

The day starts out by taking the Lanai ferry from Lahaina harbor at 6:45a. After arriving on Lanai you will be shuttled up to Koele to play your first 18 holes. After Koele, you will be shuttled down to Manele where your second 18 holes begin. After Manele, it is time to take the last ferry out of Lanai.

Q: Will I be able to finish 18 holes?

A: Yes. The pace of play on both courses is relatively quick and one can finish 36 holes without missing the last ferry.

Q: How do I get to Koele?

A: Once arriving on Lanai you will see shuttle vans. Find the one going to Koele and hop on. The drivers will ask if you have a transportation voucher. If you don't, they will stop at the hotel so you can get one. The cost is $10 per person and is valid all day.

Q: When will Koele be open on Mondays and Tuesdays?

A: This answer all depends on the staff at Koele and the state of the US economy.

Q: When is a good time to play?

A: Weekdays are usually wide open on Lanai. On the weekends the courses have a tendency to host large group outings starting at Koele. If you want to play, and Koele is booked in the morning, we can book your trip so Manele is played first followed by Koele.

Q: Where does the ferry leave from?

A: Lahaina Harbor off of front street. Parking can be found behind the Burger King which is located by the huge banyon tree.

Q: Is there something for the significant other to do over on Lanai?

A: There is a hotel spa and pool which can be used with permission and beaches which are accessible. The shuttle service can be used to get to the hotel resort areas where there is shopping. Down at Manele Bay there are covered lawn chairs where one can rent snorkel gear and water toys.

IT'S SUMMER!!!

That's right...it's summer time. Not only do the kids get out of school for 3 months, (if they are lucky) but its the time for family vacations. Its also time for the parents to be watching the $$$ but yet, still let everyone have a great time.

Seeing as how the economy is still down in the dumps and people are watching how much they are spending on luxury items and such, we here at Golf-Maui are going to offer some great Maui-Money-Savin' Golf Deals.

It seems to us that a lot of people come to Maui and only play golf at the resort courses. You know who you are so we don't have to name names. But, Maui has some other great non-resort courses as well. And, since the penny pinching is in full swing, we are going to tell you where to play that won't bust your wallet wide open.

1) Pukalani Country Club
Golf-Maui offers this outstanding course for $74.
Pukalani is nestled on the slopes of Haleakala in the sleepy little town of Pukalani. It's a fantastic layout that weaves itself between houses and sugar cane fields. No two holes are alike and it is most certainly not a "cookie cutter" golf course. At 1200' elevation it is a lot cooler than Kahului, Wailea or Kapalua and the views rival that of the best resort courses on the island!Pukalani is probably the most underated course on the island just because it doesn't have a hefty price associated with it. But, don't let it fool you, this course gives you the most "Bang For Your Buck."

2) Elleair Maui Golf Club
Golf-Maui has several different price options for different times throughout the day. Please see one of our booking pages from the links at the right for current price/time options.
Wow....Elleair. Since it was built in 1986, Elleair has gone under dramatic enhancements and all for the better. The course sits right in the middle of Kihei off of Piilani Highway and Lipoa. People usually see it when they are driving on Piilani. The layout is great and the pace of play is quick ( and so are the greens). The course itself winds its way through some desert-like areas as well as lush forested areas. Elleair is a layout which is both friendly to the weekend hacker and yet can be devastating to the low handicapper as well. Elleair is one of our TOP 5 MUST PLAYS when you come to Maui. And with green fees that start at $99, its a bargain.

3) Makena North
Golf-Maui has several different price options for different times throughout the day. Please see one of our booking pages from the links at the right for current price/time options.
Makena North is one of only two resort courses to make it into our TOP 5 MUST PLAYS from an island that has plenty of resort golf. First off, the views on this course are extremely breathtaking! If you are in the fairway and don't stop to look back at the tee boxes every now and then, you are truly missing out on images that will be forever etched into your mind. We have seen fantastic sunsets, breaching whales in the ocean and wild deer which like to leave hoof prints in the sand bunkers. Makena North is a layout which will not soon be forgotten; especially when you play the par 5 14th which is a downhill 600+ yarder. My boss says he has the longest drive EVER on that hole in which his drive ended up 15 yards short of the bunkers at the bottom of the hill. With immaculate course conditions and friendly pro shop staff, it is no wonder Makena North made our TOP 5.

4) Wailea Old Blue
Golf-Maui has several different price options for different times throughout the day. Please see one of our booking pages from the links at the right for current price/time options.
So, you want to play a Wailea Course, but you're afraid of tapping into the kids college fund, eh? Have no fear, Golf-Maui is here. And, to help us out, is the first golf course to be built on the south side of Maui- Wailea Old Blue. This former LPGA event host has all the resort amenities without the resort price tag. The course has plenty of elevation change from tee to green and it even has a couple of par 4's which dare you to drive them from the tee. The layout winds its way through estates and lush forests and can be seen when one drives into the Wailea area. The course has never been one to disappoint our staff when we go to play it. We like it for its wide fairways and large, fast, undulating greens.

5) The Dunes at Maui Lani
Golf-Maui offers The Dunes for $102 until 2pm. The after 2pm rate through Golf-Maui is $75.
That's right, you read that correctly...$102. The Dunes is the newest and hardest course on Maui. Built right in the center of the island this in-land links style course can be a real bear when the trade winds are blowing. The greens are hard and fast and will usually put a weird look on your face because the ball doesn't do what you expect it to do; the first time or the second time! But, don't let what I have written here scare you off. The Dunes is a great course at an exceptional price. Just beware of holes 8, 9 and 10...we happen to call those 3 "Bull&@*t Corner." Play it and you will see why.

6) THE BEST GOLF DEAL IN THE WORLD-THE EXPERIENCE AT KOELE AND THE CHALLENGE AT MANELE.
Golf-Maui offers both courses in one day for $309. That includes both green fees and roundtrip ferry transportation from Lahaina.
Have you ever played golf on Lanai? Well, bite the bullet and do it. This is a price that is too good to be true. You leave Lahaina at 6:45a and arrive on Lanai around 7:30a. The shuttle service will collect $10 from you and then take you up to Koele. After you are done playing at Koele, the shuttle drops you off down at Manele. After Manele comes the sleep ride, I mean ferry ride back to Maui at 6:45p. A full day of golf for one unbeatable cost!

Check out our websites for current prices, course reviews and activities. And don't forget to book these inexpensive courses online through our websites as well. There is no middleman, account setups or credit card checkouts through our sites. You submit...we book...you save!

It's That Time Of Year...Again!

Ladies and gents, it is that time of year when the golf courses start aerating their greens so that golfers like us can have nice smooth surfaces to putt on. Some courses here on Maui do things a little different than what some of you are used to. For instance, The Dunes at Maui Lani will punch all 18 greens but will only punch 1/2 of each surface. Also, some courses will not allow play during aeration while some will. Just keep in mind that aeration is a MUST and not every course will do it at the same time. But, I must say, these courses are still magnificent even with sandy greens. So don't worry about aerated greens, they are not that bad!

The Dunes at Maui Lani 4/9 and 5/21
Elleair ???
Kaanapali Royal 5/18 thru 5/24
Kaanapali Kai 4/28 thru 5/3
Kahili ???
Kapalua Bay 3/31 thru 4/2 then 6/2 thru 6/4 then again 7/29 thru 7/30
Kapalua Plantation 6/30 thru 7/3 and 9/1 thru 9/4
Makena 4/22 and 4/23...CLOSED NO PLAY and 9/23
Pukalani 4/19 thru 4/20
Wailea Blue 6/3 thru 6/4
Wailea Emerald ???
Wailea Gold 5/5 thru 5/6
The Challenge 4/7 thru 4/8
The Experience ???

As you can see, there will be plenty of golf to be played on non-aerated greens. Just keep in mind that you can still play on punched greens and have fun, I mean, isn't that why you are on Maui anyway....to have fun?

Speaking of "fun", Maui Golf Shop is still offering the best golf package around with a full day of golf over on Lanai. That's right, 36 holes, 2 magnificent courses and lots of great golfing memories. Don't pass this up!!! Call 800-981-5512 or read the previous blog for pricing information.

ALOHA!!!

Golf Lanai

Who out there knows that we here at Maui Golf Shop also book golf on the island of Lanai? Well, we do. There are two courses on Lanai: The Challenge at Manele and The Experience at Koele.

A typical golf outing on Lanai begins with a 6:45am ferry ride to Manele Bay. The ferry ride lasts approx. 45 min and, if your timing is right, you may see some whales. Upon arriving on Lanai you will meet a bus driver who will shuttle you and your party up to Koele. The shuttle service will make an intermediate stop so you can pay for your shuttle service. The cost for all day shuttle service is $10. Upon arriving at Koele, you will check-in with the pro shop (obviously...) and then tee it up. After finishing 18 holes at Koele, you will be shuttled down to The Challenge at Manele. You will need to check-in with the pro shop...again...and then head to the first tee. After finishing 18 holes at Manele, your shuttle will be waiting to take you down to Manele Bay so you can catch the 6:45pm ferry back to Lahaina Harbor.

Since Lanai is not heavily populated, either course is seldom crowded and players can usually bask in the views that both courses offer without feeling rushed.

This is the best golf package around!

The cost to play both courses is $309 and that includes round trip ferry tickets!
Lanai ground transportation will cost $10 once you arrive on Lanai.
The price listed is for ONE golfer.

We also can book only 18 holes of golf at either course if that's more your speed.

The cost to play either course is $259 and that includes round trip ferry tickets!
Lanai ground transportation will cost $10 once you arrive on Lanai.
The price listed is for ONE golfer.

Does the wife or significant other want to go to Lanai, but not play? No problem there either. We got you covered as we also sell round trip ferry tickets for $60 per person!

Do not pass up this extraordinary deal!
